Of course when people travel to Italy they certainly have pizza, pasta, and the like on their mind when it comes to food and when in Florence, Mr. Pizza is the place to go!
I am someone who REALLY likes to do their research regarding not just attractions and where to stay when traveling, but also food options which is how I find the best of the best. My husband and I wanted to have our first real taste of authentic Italian pizza, so, when I knew that we only had about 36 hours in Florence I set off on an internet dive to find the best pizza in Florence! On multiple blogs, travel sites, and reviews I came across Mr. Pizza.
Super tired from flying, but beyond thrilled to chow down at Mr. Pizza!
Mr. Pizza may sound like a tourist trap, however, it is ANYTHING but that! Think ‘the most incredible pizza you likely will ever have’ and then imagine yourself indulging on it beneath the shadows of the Duomo in Florence. That is EXACTLY what you will get when dining at Mr. Pizza at their Piazza del Duomo location.

The pizza here is absolutely incredible, with its amazingly fresh bright tasting sauce and endless topping and flavor combinations to choose from. Additionally they have a daily selection of specials which is where I chose my pizza from. The one I ordered had a margarita pizza base with additional tomatoes and burrata mozzarella on top. One of my favorite food items is burrata mozzarella with its creamy, cheesey center so when I saw that on the specials I knew I HAD to order it. This paired with the acidic tomatoes and sauce along with the crisped to perfection crust made for a pizza I will not soon forget. My husband ended up going with a classic margarita pizza which he also has been raving about since he took his first bite.
If traveling to Florence in the near future, do yourself a favor and make time to indulge at Mr. Pizza. You will be so very glad that you did! Also make sure to check out All’ Antico Vinaio while there.
Also good to note:
- For those with celiac or gluten intolerance they have gluten free options available. This is a real plus because in Italy it can sometimes prove to be more difficult to find gluten free pizza’s than say, in the U.S.
- Along with amazing pizza, delivery options and late night hours are what makes Mister Pizza especially popular with the locals! Their hours are 11:30AM-4:30AM.
